Purpose/Description:
Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, our community has stepped up in a big way to secure funds for the most vulnerable and impacted individuals and businesses in the city and county of Henderson, Kentucky. Due to an unprecedented need brought on in a number of different ways by the pandemic, the Henderson Recovery and Restoration Fund was created to raise and distribute funds in a needs-based manner to local nonprofit organizations servicing the citizens of Henderson County.
Grant Eligibility:
- Grants are open to 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations that maintain a business office in the county of Henderson, Kentucky, and that serve the residents of said county, and that are in good standing with the IRS.
- Businesses and individuals are not eligible at this time.
- Fiscally sponsored groups are not eligible at this time.
Grant Criteria:
The HR&R Fund will consider grant requests to eligible nonprofit organizations that have been impacted by the pandemic. These requests may (be due to or) include, but are not limited to:
- A loss in revenue due to a noticeable decline in fundraising from prior years.
- Long Term sustainable programming/projects
- Assistance with newly designed programming related to helping Henderson County residents cope with the impacts of COVID-19 (shelter, food assistance, mental health, training related to enhancing employability, etc.).
- Capital Projects (looking long term)
Grant Processing:
- The application period will start April 4, 2022 and end May 4 2022.
- Electronic applications will be available on the United Way of Henderson website.
- Physical applications can be picked up at the local United Way office or at Baird Investments located on the corner of 2nd and Elm Streets.
- Applications must be turned in no later than 4 PM on May 4, 2022, via the United Way website in order to be considered.
- Grants are expected to range between $500 and $50,000.00
- Grants will be evaluated by an allocations committee throughout the month of May 2022.
- Awards will be based on need and availability of funds.
- Recipients will be notified in June 2022 as to the status of their applications.
- Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Exclusions:
- Organizations that exist for political or partisan purposes.
- Academic, medical, or medical research organizations.
- Organizations whose original 501(c)3 status determination is less than one year old by the end of the application period.
- Grants for the purposes of paying debt or legal judgments.
- Grants for the creation or expansion of endowment funds.
Grant Details:
- Applications accepted 4/4/2022-5/4/2022.
- Submission of an application does not guarantee an award or a specific amount.
- Applications will be reviewed by an allocations committee throughout the month of May 2022.
- Your contact person will be notified no later than June 30, 2022 as to the status of your award via the contact information you provide.
- Awards will be based on need and availability of funds.
- Grants range from $500 to $50,000.00 Do not ask for more than you need.
Applications are due by Wednesday May 4, 2022 at 4 pm.
