Henderson County Schools' Home Visit Blitz Featured on October, 2011, segment of "Education Matters" on KET
This past July 26, Henderson County was a sea of Maroon and White, Henderson County Schools' colors, as teachers from all elementary schools in the district embarked on the first ever school wide home visit blitz. United Way of Henderson County proudly sponsored the event and coordinated the teacher luncheon held at the Denton Shelter. Accompanying the teachers that warm, sunny, summer day was members of the Pritchard Committee and a film crew from the KET program, "Education Matters", who were interested in what kind of response teachers, parents, students, and the community would have toward such an event, and, who wanted to feature this innovative approach to parent/student/teacher engagement as part of their October segment. Below is the segment in its entirety, with Henderson County South Heights Elementary Principal, Rob Carroll, serving as one of the panelists, to discuss the impact of home visits, as well as the importance of parent engagement within the school system.
