“Cuckoo Laugh-In World” Pantomime Show
Raises over $10,000 to Benefit United Way of Henderson County!
United Way of Henderson County Volunteer Players’ bi-annual fundraiser played to a packed house on Saturday, November 16th, serving up its usual course of slapstick humor, dancing, and an overall good time for audience goers as well as volunteer performers on stage!
This year’s theme, “Cuckoo Laugh-In World”, played homage to the beloved variety show, “Laugh-In”, bringing back to life iconic regulars Arte Johnson, Ruth Buzzy, Henry Gibson, Goldie Hawn, JoAnn Worley, and, of course, Judy Carne, the Sock-It-To-Me Girl! Laugh-In hosts, Dan Rowan and Dick Martin were brought to life by veteran Volunteer Players, Brad Schneider and Steve Gold, who actually hosted their portion of the show live rather than the usual lip synching that accompanies the show’s antics. Music, dancing and laughter were the order of the evening, with proceeds from ticket sales going toward programs and services funded through the United Way of Henderson County general funding process.
Expenses associated with the show are offset by generous sponsorships from local businesses and organizations, allowing proceeds from the ticket sales to go toward programs and services in Henderson County that focus on education, income and health, the building blocks for a good life.
While the Volunteer Players pantomime provides for lots of laugh, even more importantly, the fundraiser will help United Way of Henderson County to promote programming that encourages asset accumulation, financial literacy, healthy lifestyles, early childhood development, and a host of other services that address the barriers that keep individuals and families from reaching their goals.
