When Courtney arrived at the Father Bradley Shelter after her incarceration, she knew she needed more than a place to stay. She needed the tools to build a stable future. Through the shelter's Financial Stability Program, funded in part by the United Way of Henderson County, Courtney gained the support, education, and resources necessary to take control of her finances and her future. She secured employment, participated in financial literacy classes through Bank On Henderson, learned how to budget and save, and faithfully contributed to the shelter's Savings Program. With guidance from staff and the confidence she gained through these opportunities, Courtney was able to purchase a vehicle, build savings, and ultimately secure her own housing at the WARM Residences. Today, she continues her recovery journey with a strong financial foundation and a renewed sense of independence.
"For the first time in my life, I learned how to manage my money and plan for my future," Courtney shared. "The Financial Stability Program helped me realize that I was capable of more than just getting by. It helped me believe I could truly succeed."
Courtney's story is a powerful example of how investments in financial stability create lasting change for individuals working to rebuild their lives.
